Kogi to establish Science and Technology University,Osara

Following the approval of Governor Yahaya Bello on the bill seeking for the establishment of of the Confluence University of Science and Technology, questions have been asked about where the new university will be situated in Kogi State.Answering the question on the location of the new Confluence University of Science and Technology, Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Kingsley Fanwo said the new university will be located at Osara in Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State.Kingsley Fanwo disclosed this while addressing newsmen at the end of the State Executive Council meeting at the Kogi State Government House, Lokoja.The Commissioner noted that the Confluence University of Science and Technology will offer science and technology-based courses with a view to moving the state to the desired developmental level.According to him, the state needed a university that will equip the youths of the state with the requisite knowledge to feed the big industries in the state especially the Ajaokuta Steel Company that will be operational very soon.The Commissioner of Information stressed that the abundant mineral resources in Kogi State were added reasons considered for the approval of the establishment of the new university that will be situated in Osara.He explained that the bill will be transmitted to Kogi State House of Assembly by the state Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice for speedy implementation.On the same vein, the Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Wemi Jones said the approval of the new university was aimed at bringing back the lost values of education in Kogi State.

Police Arrest Six Suspects Over Murder Of Kogi PDP Woman Leader

Six suspects have been arrested over the murder of Woman Leader of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the Wada/Aro campaign council in Kogi state, Mrs. Achejuh Abuh.This is coming barely 24 hours after President Muhammadu Buhari ordered security agencies to carry out a thorough expeditious investigation into the incident.Mrs. Abuh was burnt alive in her home by suspected political thugs after the Governorship election in the state.According to the Command Police Public Relations Officer, DSP William Ayah, who spoke to Channels Television, the six suspects were arrested on Friday in Ochadamu while carrying out a robbery operation.He added that during interrogation, investigation revealed that one of the suspects was a principal actor in the killing of the women leader.According to Mr. Ayah, the suspects will be interrogated to ascertain the level of their involvement in the crime.The police spokesman said the outcome of the investigation will be made public upon conclusion.
