The National Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS), has, as part of its commitment to bringing succour to students in higher institutions across the state, commenced a free transportation programme across the state.Performing the launch of the programme titled; “GYB2PYB Free (On-Campus) Transportation’, the body’s Director of Transportation, Comrade Abdulateef Ibrahim said the decision was to ameliorate the difficulty being faced by the students.He said it was part of the promise made by his office that he would evolve programmes that would ensure students were comfortable, stating that the economic situation in the country required such intervention, hence the decision of his office to embark on it.According to him, the current NAKOSS leadership believes that the welfare of Kogi State Students was important to them and they were ready to commit necessary resources within the little at their disposal to ensure they care for them.Comrade Abdulateef stressed that one of the many reasons why the body introduced the programme was to partially fulfil the provision of the manifesto presented during the last National Convention of NAKOSS.Explaining the project concept further, the Director noted; “The welfare-based transportation programme is aimed at providing relieve to NAKOSSites while on their Academic endeavor. It shall run on Campuses within Kogi State based on their size and other peculiarities.“The GYB2PYB Free (On-Campus) Transportation Programme is so named to appreciate and support the aspiration of His Excellency, Governor Yahaya Bello, whose led administration has brought lots of benefits to Kogi State Students among which are 300% increment in bursary allowances, scholarship to the state indigenes, scholarship to Medical Students, donation of 18 seater Bus to NAKOSS at the National Level, donation of cars to Student Unions/Associations, regular payment of subventions to NAKOSS, payment of monthly subvention to all NAKOSS Local Chapters and Student Unions/Associations among other reasons.“We therefore urge students of the state origin to remain focused in their academic endeavors while we work to provide other great opportunities for them for their progress and betterment of the state in general,” emphasized.Speaking the during the launch in Lokoja, Rector of the state Polytechnic, Dr Salisu Usman applauded the decision of NAKOSS to embark on the project and said it was in tandem with his agenda for the institution.The Rector noted that students of Kogi State higher institutions would appreciate it in no small way, saying he was particularly impressed because it showed they were interested in moving the state forward.
GOVERNING COUNCIL APPROVES APPOINTMENTS OF SOME PRINCIPAL OFFICERS FOR KOGI STATE POLYTECHNIC, LOKOJA
The Governing Council of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja has approved the appointment of some Principal Officers of the institution in a bid to further enhance quality service delivery.At the emergency meeting of the Governing Council held on 22nd May, 2021, four (4) new Principal Officers were appointed to head the Registry, Bursary, Works and Library Units. Mr Aiyeetan Sunday is the new Registrar of the Polytechnic, while Mr Obadaki Adeika Obaro is now the Bursar.The Council also appointed Engineer Adamu Abdullahi Ayni as the Director of Works and Services while Mrs. Ozohu Omolola Mohammad Audu is the new Polytechnic Librarian. The Chairman of the Governing Council, Dr Isa Yakubu while congratulating the newly appointed Principal Officers, further charged them to bring their wealth of experience to bear so as to move the Polytechnic to an enviable height.
