EXCITEMENTS AS FIVE KOGI POLY LECTURERS MAKE AFRICA TOP 100 SCIENTISTS


It was celebration and exchange of cheers galore at the Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja recently when the School received the news of five of its lecturers who were selected among Top 100 African outstanding Scientists for the year 2022 following their remarkable research works which attracted global attention and commendation.

These selected lecturers were rewarded for making out time to carry out new findings that were deemed beneficial to academics and humanity in their various fields of study. 

Among the five lecturers who made the Top Africa 100 list of Scientists from Kogi State Polytechnic are Dr. Shehu Abdulazeez Shaib from School of Engineering who was honoured for his remarkable research in ‘Mining Engineering, Rock Mechanics, Blasting Technology, Geotechnical Engineering and Quarrying; Dr. Daniel Makolo from the School of Applied Sciences for his research in Medical Microbiology; and Mr. Pelemo Jide Jacob from the newly established School of Agricultural Technology who was selected for his wonderful research on ‘Post-Harvest Management of Arable Crops, Extension Privatization, Poverty Alleviation, Forest Resources and Production of Annual Crop’.

Others are Mr. Olayemi Micheal Sunday selected from School of Applied Sciences among the best scholars for his research on Statistics and Operational Research; and Mr. Akubo David from School of Agricultural Technology who was also selected for a special research on Agricultural Production Economics, Agricultural Development and Policy, Agricultural Cooperative Practice and Environmental Economics. 

The Rector of the Kogi State Polytechnic, Dr. Salisu Ogbo Usman who congratulated the selected lecturers on their outstanding achievements noted that the feat was a reflection of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello’s initiative in creating an agreeable environment that fosters productive learning and healthy research for lecturers and students for the benefit of the society. 

Dr. Usman said the five lecturers would be honoured, encouraged and motivated to do more, just as he charged others to emulate them. 

The Rector added that the management of Kogi State Polytechnic would continue to provide enabling environment for members of staff to distinguish themselves in innovative research for the benefit of humanity.
