NigWED PROJECT SEEKS TO EXPAND WOMEN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN NIGERIA

The Management of the Nigerian Women Economic Development-NigWED Project-an initiative of SEEED Multipurpose Cooperative Society is pleased to announce the appointment of AMB Enakeme Ojineme-the National Youth Chair of Nigerian League of Women Voters to serve as Member of the Technical Support Group for the implementation of NigWED Project in Nigeria. NigWED Project has the endorsement of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs towards fulfilling the ministry’s mandate.

NigWED Project seeks to expand Women Economic Development through Financial & Economic Inclusion in Nigeria on the strength of Partnership, Innovation and Technology with a set target for 1,000,000 Women and Girls as beneficiaries for Cash and Kind over a 6-year period of 2024 to 2027 and 2027 to 2030.

As part of the social component of the implementation plan for the NigWED Project, girl child education, leadership and governance serves as a platform for mentorship for training today’s girls too be tomorrow’s women.

As the National Youth Chair of Nigeria League Of Women Voters - NILOWV, AMB Enakeme is expected to work  with relevant stakeholders to provide capacity building and networking opportunities for female youth and students groups to understand governance and leadership, participate in electioneering, students union government election amongst others.

On his part, the Director General, NigWED Project-Mr, Lugard Okonobo, reiterated the four pillars of the project to include Central Bank of Nigeria’s Framework for Advancing Nigeria Women’s Financial Inclusion, ECOWAS 50m Women Speak Project, the African Union New Decade 2020-2030 of African Women and Girls Financial & Economic Inclusion and the United Nations SDG Goal 5: Gender Equality and Empowerment.

On the sideline of Nigeria’s 2023 general election, AMB Enakeme shall work with the Office of the Special Adviser to the Kogi State Governor on Women Affairs to mobilize female students and youth for non-violence, free and fair election having women participation and mobilization at its core. 

AMB. ENAKEME on her part promised to use her experienced gained from previous engagement to support NigWED Project and its partners which include but not limited to the African Female Youth & Students Development Initiative (AFYSDI)-promoter of the Nigerian Female Youth Parliamentary (NiFYP) Forum and Asmau Gogo Foundation.

Yahaya Bello Won A War Not An Election – Kogi PDP Chieftain

The Spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Campaign Council, Kogi State, Faruk Adejoh-Audu says he cannot congratulate Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello because Kogi State was turned into a war field during the Saturday election.Adejoh-Audu said the election was marred by violence, claiming that nine PDP members were killed during the election.He also explained how the PDP women leader of Ochadamu Ward in Ofu Local Government Area, Salome Abuh, was burnt to death in her home by political thugs.“I will have congratulated Governor Yahaya Bello but unfortunately, I cannot because he won no election.
