ANFS Condemns Abduction of Female Students in Katsina State

the Association of Nigeria Female Students (ANFS) expresses its deep distress at the shocking abduction of five female students from the Federal University Dutsin-Ma in Katsina state. This horrific incident occurred in the early hours of October 4th, 2023.

ANFS is appalled by the increasing frequency of attacks on our educational institutions. In less than a month, two campuses have fallen victim to these criminal activities. A few weeks ago, it was Federal University Gusau in Zamfara state, and now we mourn the heartbreaking abduction in Katsina state. The leadership of ANFS firmly condemns these heinous acts.

Historically, academic environments have been sanctuaries of safety and learning. However, these faceless perpetrators have disrupted the peace that students should enjoy on campuses. We have now reached a point where no student, whether male or female, feels safe while pursuing their education. It is impossible to expect students to study and learn effectively when their safety is in jeopardy, defeating the very purpose of attending school.

ANFS emphasizes that our commitment to peaceful and law-abiding education should not be taken lightly. Who can guarantee the safety of our colleagues in the hands of these criminals? Have these innocent female students been subjected to further harm and molestation? When did acquiring an education in Nigeria become such a perilous endeavor? It is disheartening that we find ourselves living at the mercy of these lawless individuals, and we must question whether they have grown stronger than our government.

These issues demand immediate attention before they escalate further.

ANFS calls upon all security agencies, community leaders, youth and student organizations, as well as government officials at all levels, to take swift action. Our sole demand is the safe and unharmed return of our colleagues to their families and academic pursuits.

We want to stress that our students are growing increasingly restless and frustrated as these vile acts continue unabated. If our colleagues are not released before Monday, October 9th, 2023, ANFS will have no choice but to relocate its secretariat permanently to Dutsin-Ma in Katsina state.

Enough is enough!

Aluta Continua, Victoria Acerta!

Signed,
Comrade Princess Omoniyi Alice,
National President,
Association of Nigeria Female Students (ANFS)

The Spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Campaign Council, Kogi State, Faruk Adejoh-Audu says he cannot congratulate Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello because Kogi State was turned into a war field during the Saturday election.Adejoh-Audu said the election was marred by violence, claiming that nine PDP members were killed during the election. He also explained how the PDP women leader of Ochadamu Ward in Ofu Local Government Area, Salome Abuh, was burnt to death in her home by political thugs.“I will have congratulated Governor Yahaya Bello but unfortunately, I cannot because he won no election.
