‎Curatorial statement
‎Becoming bloom
‎Temitope Ojumoro’s debut solo exhibition, Becoming bloom,is a gentle unfolding—of figures,of identity,of emotion.In these works,bodies do not merely appear;they emerge,layer by layer,petal by petal.Each painting feels like a slow breath,a quiet becoming.
‎Ojumoro doesn’t paint skin or flesh in the traditional sense .Instead,he composes figures from delicate layers of painted petals, inviting us to see the human form as something grown, gathered, and ever-evolving. The petals act like memories or emotions—fragile, soft, but deeply essential. As viewers ,we are reminded that identity is not fixed. It blooms, fades, and blooms again.
‎At the heart of this exhibition is rhythm—not only visual rhythm,  but the rhythm of presence. Like a favorite song or a remembered voice, each figure holds a kind of inner music. The curves of a shoulder, the bow of a head, the quiet strength in posture —all suggest a silent harmony. The paintings don’t just ask to be seen; they ask to be felt.
‎Becoming Bloom is a tender meditation on growth,on becoming oneself, and on the quiet, powerful beauty of simply existing. Through this intimate and original style, Temitope Ojumoro invites us to witness the human spirit—blooming.
