Mubi mosque suicide attack has risen to 50

The Adamawa Police Command says the death toll in Tuesday’s Mubi mosque suicide attack has risen to 50. The command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Othman Abubakar, confirmed the development to newsmen on Tuesday.Abubakar said that a young boy was responsible for the blast which occurred during the early morning prayer. “We have 50 dead and we are now trying to get the exact number of those injured ,” Abubakar said.Newsmen report that the attack happened in Dazala area of Mubi town in Adamawa on Tuesday around 5 a.m. when Muslims were observing the early morning prayer.The incident was the first in three years since the liberation of Mubi town from Boko Haram. source;vanguard news

Suspects in assassination attempt on Melaye get bail

Kogi High Court on Monday granted bail to five accused persons, including the Administrator of Ijumu Local Government,Alhaji Taufiq Isah, charged with attempt toassassinate Sen. Dino Melaye. Sen. Prof. Aliyu Usman Mani was born in Katsina town on Thursday 11 April, 1957. He attended Kayalwa Primary School, Katsina (1964-1970), then he proceed to Government college Kaduna (1971-1975) from there he went to School of Basic Studies (SBS) ABU Zaria (1975-1976). After passing he got admission into the faculty of veterinary medicine ABU, zaria and graduated with the award of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine DVM in 1981. 12 die in Oyo-Ogbomoso auto crash as bus plunges into river

Ola Ajayi, Ibadan No fewer than 12 people reportedly died in an accident on Oyo/Ogbomoso Road when a commuter bus skidded off the road and plunged into Odo-Oba River yesterday. According to eye witnesses, the accident occurred when the bus was trying to avoid a head on collision with an articulated vehicle that lost control and veered off its lane. Oyo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Mr Yusuf Salami and the Police Public Relations Officer, Oyo State Command, SP Adekunle Ajisebutu, confirmed the accident. The Gambia's President-elect, Adama Barrow, has left the country after talks failed to persuade President Yahya Jammeh to step down. Nigeria's president flew to Banjul to try to broker a deal but Mr Jammeh would not relinquish power. Mr Barrow is now heading to Mali, where he will meet West African leaders attending a summit there. The former estate agent wants to resolve the transitional deadlock so he can be sworn in next week. President Jammeh's term ends on Thursday. The African Union has said it will no longer recognise Mr Jammeh's rule beyond this point. US President-elect Donald Trump says he is willing to work with Russia and China, providing they cooperate. Mr Trump told the Wall Street Journal that newly-imposed sanctions on Russia would remain "at least for a period of time" but could then be lifted. He also said the One China policy, in which the US no longer acknowledges Taiwan, was up for negotiation. Meanwhile, a US Senate committee will probe claims Russia attempt to meddle in the presidential election. In his interview, Mr Trump said sanctions on Russia could be lifted if Moscow helped Washington in the war against Islamic extremism and in other matters.
